The Dutch onion sector enjoys a reputation of reliability and flexibility. It is this excellent reputation that has made the Netherlands one of the world’s biggest onion exporters. To guarantee quality and food safety, the companies demonstrably comply with the most stringent requirements.
It all begins with a controlled and clear working method at the, mostly GlobalGAP certified, cultivation and packaging companies. Trading and packaging companies are HACCP-certified and contribute to ensuring produce traceability. It is possible to fully trace an individual batch from cultivation to the point of sale.
Independent bodies inspect the onions at various stages in the chain. In this way, all national and international legislation in the field of food safety and hygiene is complied with in a joint effort.
